The outstanding 2009 River Grandeur Pinotage and 2008 River Grandeur Shiraz was recently honoured with a gold medal each at this year’s 14th annual Michelangelo International Wine Awards held in Stellenbosch. Their flagship River Grandeur range pays tribute to the magnificent Breede River, the life-blood of the farm, and includes supreme whites and reds.

Fifteen formidable judges hailing from 15 countries, including France, Italy, Australia and the USA, spent six days judging the 1 310 wines entered into this year’s competition.  The competition aims to identify South African wines which will fare well in international markets and Viljoensdrift’s golden achievements serve to confirm the international appeal of their wines.
